Over the last few weeks, Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar has been linked to French champions Paris Saint Germain. The French giants have long been looking for a world-class central defender to partner up with Marquinhos for a long time now after suffering humiliations one after another on the European stage.
PSG already secured the signing of Sergio Ramos as a free agent from Real Madrid last summer but it was always known that Ramos was not a future signing. Meanwhile, Presnel Kimpembe has been a long-term partner of Brazilian Marquinhos but seems like he has not impressed the Parisian Hierarchy that much.
According to Paris media, the transfer is on the right track and it would be a shame if it is not completed within the next few weeks. The deal is reportedly worth €76 million with €61 million being the base transfer fee and €15 million being the adds on that will be paid over 2 seasons. This includes €3 million for Ligue 1 and €2 million for the Champions league and €10 million related to matches played.
Ramos and Kimpembe to the stands?
Milan Skriniar has been one of the best central defenders in the world in recent years. The Inter CB has been a big reason for Inter’s recent domination and brilliance in Serie A. He has really benefitted and made a name for himself in the 3-4-3 formation at the Italian club. The possible arrival of Skriniar in Paris would really put Ramos and Kimpembe down the pecking order.
It is also quite a debate whether Skriniar would be able to adapt to a 4 at the back defensive system. The Central defender has immense physicality and blistering pace for such a tall defender and may just hope to prove his doubters wrong. The 27-year-old may even prove himself to be a better defender than the Brazilian Marquinhos who has been at the heart of the Parisian defense for years. This transfer window is going to be nuts.
