Enzo Maresca – the head coach of Chelsea has a job on his shoulders. The Italian manager will be working hard to get his philosophy across to the team. He will be trying to set clear motives for the team to play according to. Chelsea recently posted a video on their official website of a training exercise. In the video, Maresca was seen debriefing Noni Madueke to take fewer touches.
Anyway, the players will get to test themselves soon. The team will be taking part in their first pre-season match. The clash will be against Wrexham next Thursday.
Marc Guiu joins Chelsea training
This Wednesday, Marc Guiu joined the training grounds at Cobham. The 18-year-old is one of the new faces joining the Chelsea side this summer. The new lad arrives from Barcelona at a cost of £5m, as reported by BBC Sport.
Chelsea was the first to report his arrival and training with the Blues on X.
Now, Guiu has taken over Instagram to upload a post following his training with the Blues. His teammates, Andrey Santos and Trevoh Chalobah commented on the post. The duo welcomed the youngster to their side.
Santos commented “Hermano” while Chalobah commented, “Let’s go” in the comment section. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s official Instagram account also commented on the post.
Will Marc Guiu stay away from the first team?
It will be interesting to see how Marc Guiu’s future unfolds with the Blues. The question is whether the management would keep him with the senior side or not. For the upcoming 2024/25 season, the 18-year-old can join the first team.
Guiu comes from Barcelona where he managed to play only seven matches. In those matches, he kinda showed his skills by scoring two goals. However, he certainly lacks experience in playing the big matches with the main team in a big league.

Keeping that in mind, will Chelsea opt him as a player for the main team? Maresca can take his time and insights from the training for this. He has enough time to decide where the youngster can contribute to Chelsea.
Otherwise, a loan spell to another club will be a more reasonable choice. Still, there is indeed space for a backup striker at Chelsea. The Blues will be looking forward to back Nicolas Jackson this season.
Massive time for Guiu
Scoring for your boyhood club within minutes of your debut is a dream for many ballers. Well, Marc Guiu is someone who has achieved this. Playing for Barcelona, the 18-year-old scored a goal within minutes of his debut.
For sure, Guiu has had an incredible past year. Regardless, this upcoming two weeks or so could be a major time for his career.
The time is limited for Guiu. He has to show and impress the Chelsea management that he deserves a spot in the first team. The pre-season will show what he can acheive and if he manages to impress, he can make it big. We beleive that the Chelsea management may even gamble of keeping him and not signing another striker at all.
That is a long way to see for now. We will see how this transfer unfolds. Otherwise a loan deal is what we will find on the table.
