Chelsea defeated Newcastle United by 2-1 at the Stamford Bridge. The Blues were highly tested but still were able to earn all three points. Now, Troy Deeney has made some bold statements about Palmer and his influence on Chelsea.
The victory against Magpies have taken Chelsea on the fifth position in Premier League. Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer both scored goals and were able to continue their amazing form.
Enzo Maresca now seems to have found a winning formula and that is to pair Lavia with Caicedo. Lavia picked his first ever assist for Chelsea. Pedro Neto was the another player who picked an assist.
Deeney makes bold statments about Chelsea and their dependency on Palmer
Troy Deeney shared his thoughts about the game. He praised Cole Palmer but also made some bold statements about Chelsea. Firstly he praised Palmer’s pass for the opening Chelsea goal.
“He scored a goal and although he didn’t get the assist for the team’s first it was an unreal pass for, as they say in America, an assist for the assist. It was a great ball and set them on their way” – Denney praising Palmer’s pass.
Later the former Watford star highlighted how highly Chelsea are dependent on Palmer. He is not the first to highlight this issue which suggests the Blues should find solution for it soon.
“It just showed a level of class and when they take him off it looks like Chelsea at every single opportunity are going go lose the game. It gets so wide open, no control and he is probably getting frustrated at being brought off, but it was one of those games where he was excellent again” – Deeney on Chelsea’s problems.
Palmer has scored 7 goals and picked 5 assists in just 9 Premier League matches. This makes him the player with most direct goal involvements (12) this season. He has also created 25 chances which is more than anyone else in Chelsea. These stats are enough to show how dependent Chelsea are on Palmer. All stats are as per FOTMOB.
