Two Man City stars linked with move to Saudi

Manchester City defended their Premier League title in 2023/24 season which made them the first team to win four Premier League titles in a row. The club faced heavy competition from Arsenal but were able to hold on by 2 points. Pep Guardiola has been reported to leave the Etihad after the next season. However it is not concrete yet. The club is expecting some crucial changes. Accordingly, two City superstars have been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Ederson Moraes and Kevin De Bruyne have been linked with a move to Saudi. The duo played an important role in winning treble with City last year. They have now been reported to follow the footsteps of Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte who joined Saudi clubs last year. Ederson has been reported to receive a offer from Al Nassar whilst Kevin De Bruyne has been linked with Al Ittihad. Both Al Nassar and Al Ittihad are owned by Public Investment Funds (PIF) who also own Premier League club Newcastle United.

Man City’s former financial advisor Stefan Borson had his say about this situation while talking to Football Insider. Borson said that City will sell their players if they get right price. He gave the example of Riyad Mahrez to explain the situation. City earned £30 million from the Algerian international’s sale last year. Borson added that Ederson is keen to leave Etihad. According to Borson, City will demand a big fee for De Bruyne but the Belgian has only one year left in his current contract.

Ederson heavily linked with a move to Al-Nassr

Ederson has been Manchester City’s first choice keeper for seven years. He joined City in 2017 for £35 million. The Brazilian keeper has won numerous titles with City and was a key component last year when the club won treble. However it seem like Ederson’s glorious City career will end as he has been approached by Saudi giants.

Al-Nassr have been reportedly interested in Ederson. According to recent reports, Al-Nassr have offered Ederson £900,000 per week. This is nine times more than what City are offering the Brazilian currently. However, the deal is not concrete yet but reports claim that Ederson in interested to join his former City teammate Laporte. Al-Nassar are willing to pay £25 million for the Brazilian. However, City are demanding £50 million for the deal to happen. Fabrizio Romano revealed that Stefan Ortega will replace Ederson as first choice keeper if the Brazilian departs this summer.

City legend tempted to join Saudi side

Kevin De Bruyne has been the most important player in City’s history. The Belgian international emerged as one of the greatest player in the world under Pep Guardiola. He is already a City legend and is loved by every City fan. De Bruyne’s current city contract expires next year. Obviously the fans were expecting the 33 year old midfielder to extend. However the Belgian international revealed that he is interested to join Saudi side if a big offer comes his way. De Bruyne was recently reported to have verbally agreed a deal with Al-Ittihad.

However, Fabrizio Romano has said that currently De Bruyne is nowhere near to join Al-Ittihad. The Italian journalist on his CaughtOffside column wrote that Al-Ittihad are in complicated situation right now. He added that their move to appoint Stefano Pioli as a manager will collapse and the club president is also on the verge of leaving. Talking about De Bruyne’s move Romano said that the Saudi club is not advancing the move right now but may later make a move for him in summer.

If its the end of De Bruyne’s career, the Belgian will leave the Etihad as the greatest City player ever. The 33 year old midfielder has made 382 appearances for City in which he has scored 102 goals and provided 162 assists. His departure will leave a huge void which will be almost impossible to fill for City.
