Udanta Singh signs for FC Goa after a nine-year stay with Bengaluru FC

FC Goa

Forward Udanta Singh will leave Bengaluru FC after nine seasons with the club. The Indian international won a clutch of trophies at Bengaluru, including the I-League, Super Cup, Federation Cup, and Super League trophies.

In 201 matches for Bengaluru, Singh scored 22 goals and added 22 assists, making him a vital part of the club. Singh was a part of Bengaluru’s success in India and abroad. In 2016, he held the club reach the AFC Cup final, where Bengaluru lost 1-0 to Iraq’s Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.

Indian football fans are anticipating the all-new Super League season. Fans are debating whether Mumbai City will finish first once more. Fans can use the Casumo login to learn about sports betting in India before the Super League season kicks off.

Singh’s impending departure was officially announced in January. However, it is only now been confirmed that Singha will join FC Goa on a multi-year contract for the 2023 season.

The Indian Super League 2022-23 season ended in February with Mumbai City finishing top of the standings. Bengaluru qualified for the playoffs but failed to reach the final. However, Bengaluru won the Durand Cup, defeating Mumbai City in the final 2-1. It was the club’s first-ever Durand Cup trophy.

While Bengaluru reached the playoffs and lifted the Durand Cup, FC Goa finished outside the top six. The Gaurs failed to qualify for the playoffs by just three points. Goa will hope 26-year-old Singh can improve the club going forward.

Singh made 15 Super League appearances for Bengaluru during the 2022-23 season. He tallied two assists playing either as a right-wing or centre-forward. Singh started the season strongly in all competitions, but after a midseason injury, he struggled for playing time. He didn’t play a full 90 minutes in his final nine appearances for Bengaluru.

The forward originally joined Bengaluru in 2014 following a stint in the Tata Football Academy. Singh went on to make his debut later that year. He was just 18 years old, yet showed his importance to the team. Singh’s pace and dribbling skills would help FC Goa next season. The club sought a player capable of creating goals and challenging defenders. Singh should provide them with a dangerman down the flanks.

Goa scored just 36 goals last season in the Indian Super League. Despite scoring more goals than Bengaluru, FC Goa’s defence let them down. The addition of Singh will help the team keep pressure on opponents, limiting the opposing attacks.

Singh will likely play on the opposite flank of Goa left winger Iker Guarrotxena. The Spaniard spent last season on loan with FC Goa from UD Logrones. Guarrotxena has one year left on his current FC Goa contract. He scored 11 goals and appeared in all 20 Super League matches for the Gaurs last term.

Goa could have two of the most exciting players in the league in attack positions when the new Super League season kicks off in September. The league season will begin on September 23 and finish in March 2024.
