Matthijs De Ligt had a rough week before the game against Southampton. He made a horrible error while playing for Netherlands against Germany. This led to German goal and De Ligt was substituted at half time.
But Ten Hag placed his trust in the defender and started him. De Ligt was able to redeem himself and open the scoring for United. He was also very efficient in defence alongside Lisandro Martinez.
