Valencia host Barcelona in the La Liga on Monday at the Mestalla stadium. The hosts are looking to put pressure on the Blaugranas, who lost an opportunity to go top of La Liga after a shock home loss to Granada.
The Catalans are third in the table and need a win to be in the title race ahead of the crunch match against leaders, Atletico Madrid. However, they would be without their head coach, Ronald Koeman, as he was sent off in the previous match.
Anyways, the Bats are unbeaten at home and would be keen on maintaining their record. They are currently fourth in the rankings and a win would take them to 12th position.
Valencia vs Barcelona: Preview
Ronald Koeman would be missing this crucial game as Barcelona looks for a revival after an embarrassing home defeat to Granada. Five games are left to play in the league as Four-way title race heats up.
Valencia were earlier successful in frustrating the Catalans at home in a 2-2 draw. But, now, Lionel Messi would be eager to bring his team back to the top. They might even fall down a place below if they fail to win and Sevilla wins against Athletic Bilbao.
However, if they win the match, it could be a better preparation for their next match against the current league leaders, who are looking to win the La Liga fir the first time since 2014-15 season. But, a win for the hosts would maintain their safety from relegation by at least 6 points.
In 54 matches played between the two teams, Barca have won 26, Valencia winning 12 and rest 16 matches ended as draws. It would be a special match for Jordi Alba as he would be locking horns against his former club.

Jasper Cillessen might be returning to the Starting XI and Thierry Correia is the only player that would be missing the match due to injury. Coach Javi Garcia would be fielding his best eleven against the Copa del Rey winners.
For the visitors, Martin Braithwaite has returned from injury and might be making an appearance in the bench. However, there could be a few changes in the midfield and especially the defence after a lacklustre performance against Granada.
The visitors have to cope up with the injuries of Ansu Fati and Philippe Coutinho, but it won’t be a difficult thing.

Barcelona might field a 3-5-2 formation boosted by the return of Sergino Dest in the starting 11.
