Chelsea has been eyeing Victor Osimhen for a while now in this summer transfer window and is reportedly close to signing him.
Chelsea has made big moves this summer. The club is highly active in the transfer market so far and with a few weeks left, we can still see some moves. The side has made multiple signings and hopes to start a new era under Enzo Maresca this time. The Blues are reportedly in the market looking for a new striker and have been linked to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Although the signing is yet to be completed officially, there is some interesting news coming from Naples regarding the Nigerian.
Napoli has officially confirmed that Victor Osimhen has put in a transfer request to the club. For long, the Nigerian was linked to a move away from the side. He joined the club back in the summer of 2020 from Lille.

Regardless, Chelsea has keen interest in the 25 years old for a while now. The side has also been linked to a deal with Napoli which includes a swap of Romelu Lukaku. Sources claim both the clubs have held talks for this ‘swap deal’ already. A final announcement is still pending though.
Napoli’s new manager Antonio Conte is keen to get Lukaku back in his side after the pair won the Serie A back in 2021 with Inter Milan. Also, the Belgian striker has struggled ever since returning to Stamford Bridge later that year.
Earlier, the Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain were the leading contenders for acquiring the services of Victor Osimhen. However, the talks over transfer fee has stalled a probable deal for them for now.

Napoli confirms transfer move of Victor Osimhen
Regardless of all the developments, one thing is clear: Victor Osimhen is keen on making a move out of Naples. Sporting director Giovanni Manna has confirmed over the weekend that the Nigerian is keen on leaving.
In a statement, he clarified that the striker has asked to leave the club. He also added that the club will look into the matter in 20 days.
At the beginning of the summer transfer window, Napoli agreed to let Osimhen go, but Aurelio de Laurentiis, the club president, had been waiting for a team to fulfill the striker’s €130 million (£110.8 million) release clause.
This figure was the main reason to make PSG back off. Moreover, this has also somewhat affected Chelsea’s interest so far.
The reports claim that Chelsea is interested in signing the striker but only if Napoli agrees to an initial loan deal. However, this can affect the personal terms for Osimhen given his agent, Roberto Calenda has already disregarded claims that the striker would be leaving the side on a cut-price deal. But for how long they can stand on this figure remains to be seen.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea is going to make a move to grab the services of Victor Osimhen. The striker comes with a very hefty price tag. But he will surely be a great addition for the Blues.
