PREMIER LEAGUE

Victor Osimhen linked with Chelsea

Chelsea has been one of the most questioned teams in the Premier League lately. The decision-making of the board has definitely raised a lot of questions in the minds of the supporters. The sacking of manager Mauricio Pochettino came as a shock to everyone. Despite his brilliant performance in the later stages of the league, he lost his job as Chelsea manager. The Chelsea board later said that they were looking towards a new project, and the Argentina manager was not part of the plans. However, it seems that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is an part.

These changes are not only taking place in the management but are now taking place in the players. Chelsea recently confirmed the arrival of Marc Guiu from Barcelona. The 18-year-old can be a good option to lead the line. However, he is still very young and has a lot to experience. The Blues even consider Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak. However, he seems very unlikely to leave St. James Park.

At the moment, Victor Osimhen of Napoli seems to be the number one priority for Chelsea. The forward has been one of the best in his league and around the world in recent times. Across two seasons, the Nigerian international has scored 41 goals in 57 games for his club in Series A. He contributed significantly last year as well during the Napolis Champions League run. He bagged five goals in six matches to take them to the quarterfinals. They ended up losing to AC Milan in the quarters.

Osimhen wants Premier League football.

The English Premier League is widely known for being the toughest football competition. Victor would want to test his goal-scoring ability in this league. Even world-famous journalist Fabrizio Romano recently added

Discussing the 25-year-old’s plans on X, Romano said: “Victor Osimhen’s plan is still to leave Napoli this summer, as movement is expected soon. After a quiet June, Napoli expects proposals to arrive for Osimhen as he could be on the move; the release clause is around €120 million (£101.9 million).

Many big clubs in England would love to acquire the services of the striker. English clubs have been known to splash money around on big players as well. The transfer fee should not be a problem for a club like Chelsea or even any other big club. Osimhen was even linked to signing for Paris-Saint-Germain considering Kyllian Mbappes’s move to Real Madrid. These big clubs have been trying to reach the future for a long period of time.

Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, has started to shape the squad. The addition of the Nigerian will help make the team stronger. All eyes will be on Chelsea as soon as the next season rolls around. They even have European football to worry about this season. Chelsea has not touched major gold in over 10 years. Winning the UEFA Conference League, or even the Premier League, will take the club back to its former glory. They have come close on numerous occasions. Losing to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final and then even losing to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals. A proper goal scorer like Osimhen will give the team more chances, and they will convert more opportunities.

The new manager is coming off brilliant success at Leicester City, where he won the championship and promoted them back to the Premier League. He will be looking to replicate Chelsea’s success at an even higher level of competition. It will be interesting to see how he reacts when he plays against his former club as well.
