Viktor Gyokeres transfer buzz builds as United eyes striking reinforcement for the next season.
Will Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres Finally join Man Utd ?
Reports suggests that Manchester United are linked to Sporting CP’s goal machine, Viktor Gyokeres. The latest reports claim that the Swedish striker is traveling to England for a medical.
Manchester United are preparing for what should be a much-anticipated Europa League semi-finals clash with Athletic Club de Bilbao. They are already thinking ahead to their summer signings.
So far, the club has had a difficult Premier League campaign with them sitting just 14th in the league. However, there is still a glimmer of hope for Champions League football next season. For that, they have to lift the Europa League trophy this season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Utd’s ability to land Gyokeres may depend on whether they secure that UCL spot.
Sporting CP are open to offers between £55m and £70m for the striker. Although, he has a £85m release clause. He has scored 52 goals and set up another 12 in 48 matches so far this season. He is exactly the kind of firepower Red Devils have been crying out for.
Utd Set to Snap Up French Youngster
Ruben Amorim’s side are also on the brink of sealing a deal for French youngster Enzo Kana-Biyik. The 18-year-old forward is apparently arriving to finalise his move. He has drawn comparisons to Paul Pogba for his route from Le Havre to Manchester. He is scheduled to join on a free transfer due to the expiration of his contract this summer.
Kana-Biyik has netted nine goals from 15 games with the Under-19s at Le Havre. He has not played a senior match yet, however, he has trained most days with the first team squad.
Utd continue to restructure under manager Amorim. They want new players like Kana-Biyik who can add youthful energy. And they also desperately need a proven striker like Gyokeres to give the team attacking strengths. They have missed that throughout this season. With transfer wheels already turning, the Red Devils’ fans could see a very different frontline come next season.
