The Blues dominated the game but still were unable to get even a consolation point. They scored only once whereas The Reds scored two times. Despite the scoreline, Chelsea had a really impressive game away from home.

Chelsea vs Liverpool: Match Stats and what went wrong for The Blues

Chelsea dominated the ball possesion and ended the match with 58% possesion. They had more shots than Liverpool but less on target than of hosts. Chelsea had 12 total shots but only 2 were on target. On the other hand, The Reds had 9 total shots out of which 5 were on target.

When it came to passing Chelsea dominated in everything. They completed more passes and had more passing accuracy. In addition, they had more accurate crosses and more accurate long balls.

When it came to duels, Liverpool proved very strong in winning ground duels whereas Chelsea were strong in winning ariel duels. The Blues did completed more dribbles but could have defended better.

In defending, The Reds won more tackles, made more blocks and made more clearances than Chelsea. This resulted in them restricting Chelsea to only one goal and end the match with all three points. All stats are as per FOTMOB.

Chelsea could have won or atleast achieved a draw against Premier League table toppers if they were slightly better in two things. First is they could have been more clinical in front of the goal and could have scored more if they had more shots on target. Lastly, they could have defended better and restricted Liverpool by breaking their rhythm.
