Will Arsenal’s discipline cost them Premier League title?

Arsenal have been defeated for the very first time this season yesterday. They fell short to win against Bournemouth and conceded 2 goals. Arsenal fans are unhappy with the red card shown to William Saliba. It seems like the disciplinary record has became a topic of concern for Mikel Arteta.

Declan Rice was the first Arsenal player to see the red card this season. The decision was highly criticised by fans and causes controversy. Later, Trossard received red card in an important clash against Man City. Gunners played the whole second half with 10 men against Premier League defending champions.

Arsenal failed to win both the matches in which their players received red cards. But, they still managed to grab one point. However, yesterday they were unable to get even a consolation point against Bournemouth.

William Saliba was sent off in the 30th minute and this costed Gunners all three points. They conceded 2 goals and failed to even pull one back. Gunners have now fallen behind in the title race and they should really improve their disciplinary record.

Red card problem may cost Arsenal league title

In 2015-16 season, Leicester City won the Premier League and created history. They had 3 red cards that season. But the issue is Leicester received 3 red cards in the whole campaign, whilst Gunners have already had 3 in just 8 matches.

Moreover no Premier League winner has had more than 2 red cards in the season after 2015-16. This shows that club’s discipline also plays an important role in winning the title. Red card records as per BBC.

Despite Gunner being the club with most red cards received this season, their fans are unhappy with match officials. They feel like they have been unlucky and the decisions are always against them. However, FA have felt otherwise and has said all red cards shown were fair.
