Xavi Hernandez has reassured that Barcelona will let some players go ahead of the new season

Barcelona has managed to assemble a star-studded squad ahead of the 2022/23 season for Xavi Hernandez. The Blaugrana has already completed the signings of Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde.

The club has added depth in all the departments ahead of the upcoming season. Manager, Xavi Hernandez is pleased with the club hierarchy and keen to work with all the players. However, the club is planning to offload players that are deemed surplus to requirements.

Barcelona is financially in a difficult position and is desperately in need to offload players to make breathing space from the financial point of view. Oscar Mingueza has recently departed the club for Celta Vigo. Furthermore, Martin Brathwaite, Memphis Depay, and Frenkie De Jong have also been linked with exits this summer.

The sale of Frenkie De Jong is crucial to the financial position of the club. However, the player seems to be unwilling to move in order to enjoy his high-wage Barcelona contract. Manchester United and Chelsea are both interested in signing the midfielder.

Xavi Hernandez has already informed players that are surplus to requirements

The Spanish legend has clarified that he has finalized his squad for the upcoming season. There are players who are going to leave in this transfer window. Xavi Hernandez has already informed the players of his decision over their futures at the club.

The Spaniard in an interview with Marca said that:

“I don’t if there will be more, it all depends on the financial fair play and the finances. There will be exits and I’ve been clear about that. I think I’m 99% sure about the final squad list and most players know too. We have spoken to the players whose future we’ve decided.”

However, Barcelona still faces the challenge of registering new signings, and offloading players is important in that regard. Nonetheless, the club will hope to part ways with players that are not in Xavi’s plans to ensure a healthy and positive dressing room!!
