Real Madrid, the La Liga champions, are reportedly considering Yann Sommer, a 33-year-old Swiss goalkeeper, as a potential Andriy Lunin replacement. Real Madrid is reportedly interested in Yann Sommer, according to a report by the Spanish outlet Defensa Central. If Andriy Lunin leaves the Santiago Bernabeu during the summer 2023 transfer window, Los Blancos will pursue the 33-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper.

Yann Sommer joined Borussia Monchengladbach in July 2014 after spending his whole professional life in Switzerland. And during the past eight and a half years, the seasoned goalie has made a name for himself as one of the Bundesliga’s finest shot-blockers. He has also consistently performed well in goal for Switzerland.

For Gladbach, the 33-year-old has made 335 appearances and has 90 shutouts. Despite the fact that the number may not be very spectacular. The seasoned goalie has not been playing for a big Bundesliga team. And several prestigious clubs, including Real Madrid, have taken notice of Sommer’s performances.

In the summer transfer window, Real Madrid may have to look for a goalkeeper. This is due to persistent rumors over Andriy Lunin’s long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu. And Real Madrid will need to sign a replacement if the Ukrainian international departs.

Sommer will just be Real Madrid’s temporary fix. But the 33-year-old will be a good addition for Real Madrid because he is one of the top goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. But not just the defending La Liga winners are interested in signing the Swiss international.

In addition, Sommer has caught the attention of a few other major European clubs, such as Manchester United and Atletico Madrid. But it could be difficult to pass up the chance to join what is undoubtedly the biggest club in Europe. On the other hand, if David de Gea departs Manchester United, the seasoned goalkeeper may have more possibilities.
