The Spanish playmaker has only played for Los Blancos on 9 occasions this season. His Champions League appearance is even worse. He has only played for 13 minutes in the 6 matches played so far. From the start of the 2018-19 season, Isco has started in just 29 out of a possible 88 LaLiga fixtures. After Zidane’s appointment, Isco struggled to get enough game time.
Isco was so far down the pecking order that he had no role in the 3 important fixtures last week against Sevilla, Borussia Monchengladbach and Atletico Madrid.
He was an important member of the team since he arrived at Real Madrid in 2013 from Malaga. He made 300 appearances, scoring 51 and assisting 54. But after his current involvement in the squad, he was seen criticising Zidane’s use of him in the match against Barcelona which they won 3-1 in October.
Zidane suggests Isco to leave Real Madrid?
According to Marca, the unsettlement between the two has made Zidane push the Spaniard for a move away from Santiago Bernabeu. Isco has only 18 months left in his contract. They will be hoping to sell him in January rather than lose him for free as the financial crisis increases.
“Isco is going to be an important player. It is true that he is not playing much and I am not giving Isco the opportunity to show the player that he is.
“I feel sorry for my players and I will never forget what I have lived with. He has to work hard to have another chance, but what is being talked about I can’t say anything because we do not control him.– Zidane on Isco
Arsenal has been heavily linked with the player as Mikel Arteta will be hoping to turn this season around. He has urged his Board to go for the Spaniard in the next transfer window.
Other than Arsenal, another Premier League side Everton also interested in his signature. The Toffees had recently acquired James Rodriguez from Los Blancos. Getting Isco will be a great upgrade to their already enhanced midfield.
