About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Zinedine Zidane is reportedly unsure about whether Sergio Ramos would stay at Real Madrid. Ramos had been a key figure for the Los Blancos and is currently the skipper for the club.

Zidane believes that the veteran defender would stay at the club and create some more memorable moments in the club. However, there are also rumours of their another key defender, Raphael Varane, leaving the club.

The defending La Liga champions are currently eight points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid. Additionally, Ramos’ contract expires on June 30, this year.

Zidane wants Sergio Ramos to stay at Real Madrid

Sergio Ramos joined the Galacticos from Sevilla in 2005 and has been phenomenal ever since. He has won 4 Champions Leagues, 5 La Liga, two Copa del Rey, 4 FIFA Club World Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, and 4 Spanish Super Cups with the club he calls his “home”.

The 34-year-old center-back had made 669 appearances as well as also scoring 100 goals for Real Madrid. He is also one of the very best goalscoring defenders in the world capitalizing whenever needed in front of the goalpost.

His thumping header skills and pinpoint accuracy in taking penalty kicks had been crucial for the Spanish side. His goals were crucial in the title winning 2019-20 La Liga season.

Ramos believes that he could play for still five more years at least.

“I wish I could say something, but everything remains the same. I can play five more years at the highest level. If injuries are not too bad, my mentality will help me,” – Sergio Ramos.

“Will Ramos play until he’s 40? That is what Sergio has said. He is a special player. His intention is already good because he wants to continue playing. Every year he will know if he is in good shape and, if he is like he is now, of course, he can play until he is 40 if he wants.” – Zinedine Zidane on Sergio Ramos wanting to play till he’s 40

Currently, clubs like PSG, Manchester City, and Manchester United are interested in the veteran defender.

Currently, the return of Sergio Ramos and Eden Hazard from injuries and the possibility of them featuring in the match against Atalanta would be a major boost for the Madrid club. They won 1-0 in the first leg of the Round of 16 of UEFA Champions League.
