Manchester United have started the transfer market by making important changes to their board. Omar Berrada will join as chief executive, Dan Ashworth as sporting director and Jason Wilcox as technical director. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is determined to bring back the glory days to Old Trafford and hence is very busy working on it. The Premier League side wants to sign players at various position with striker being one of it. United were linked with Joshua Zirkzee and recently the player is reported to be interested in moving to England.
Anthony Martial will leave United after almost a decade at Old Trafford. The Frenchman was ineffective in recent years and didn’t feature for United on a regular basis. United signed Rasmus Hojlund last season from Atlanta. The Danish striker enjoyed a great debut season in England. He was top scorer for United in 2023/24 season as he found the back of the net 16 times. This was also the 21 year old striker’s career best. However Hojlund didn’t receive any support from other players in that position. United have spotted this issue and are determined to bring in the new striker.
Man United very close to sign Joshua Zirkzee
Manchester United are reported to trigger the £34 million release clause in the Dutchman’s contract. Firstly, AC Milan were reported close to sign the 23 year old striker. However the deal failed due to Milan unable to agree on a commision fee for Zirkzee’s agent. As a result, United got the lead over Italian giants and a chance to repeat the move they made a year ago when they signed Hojlund from Atlanta.
United have no problem in triggering £34 million release clause in Zirkzee’s current contract with Bologna. According to GiveMeSport, both clubs are ready to complete the deal and now the decision is up to the player. Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth said that Zirkzee is very likely interested to join Red Devils as the talks are still continuing.
Zirkzee signed for Bologna in 2022 from Bayern Munich. In his first season with Italian side he scored 2 goals along with providing 2 assists in 21 appearances. The 2023/24 season proved as his breakout season as the Dutchman helped Bologna to secure a place in Champions League qualification for the first time in history. Zirkzee 11 goals along with providing 4 assists in 34 Serie A games earning him league’s young player of the year award.
The 23 year old striker has often been compared to Oliver Giroud and Harry Kane for string ariel presence. Zirkzee has traits like physical dominance, clinical finishing, clever movement, solid technical skills and ability to dribble can make him an important striker at United. United fans would very likely appreciate the Dutchman as the new addition to their attack.

Manchester United wanted to improve four positions in particular. The positions were centre back, midfielder, right winger and striker. However another position which looked weak due to injuries was left back.
Dan Ashworth was quickly assigned to complete the signing of Matthijs De Ligt from Bayern Munich. De Ligt is reported to cost United around £40 million. For the midfield, United are considering Manuel Ugarte and Joao Neves. However Benfica have no intention to sell Neves and have confirmed the only way to get the portugese midfielder is by triggering the huge €120 million clause present in his current contract.
Along with the new signings, United are reported to part ways with seven of their existing stars. Casemiro, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Cristian Eriksen, Anthony, Jadon Sancho ans Mason Greenwood all seem to move away from Old Trafford in an attempt to make space along with raising club’s financial balance.
