5 wildest Chelsea rumours from this summer window

Chelsea to go all out to sign Nigerian

The summer window is over, and Chelsea had some huge transfers. Some moves sounded wild and never actually happened.

Chelsea rumours during this summer window

Chelsea’s summer was full of rumours, with the Blues linked to some headline-grabbing names that never made the switch.

Manchester City young gun Nico O’Reilly was on the Blues’ watch list as per reports. The player caught eyes and impressed in pre-season and played early on in City’s PL action. Although, he remained at the Etihad. Chelsea’s interest did not develop into a proper bid. So, that left the youngster to continue to develop under head coach Pep Guardiola.

Another name of note was Morgan Gibbs-White. He stirred the transfer market with his potential exit from Nottingham Forest. There were even reports of Chelsea looking into acquiring Gibbs-White. But, the attacking midfielder opted to extend his stay with Forest. Gibbs-White’s extension was great for his fans, since he had the fans guessing if he would leave. But, there was no moves from Chelsea at the time.

Big-name flops and last-minute misses

Chelsea also moved around with more high-profile stars. Real Madrid winger Rodrygo drew attention, with Chelsea exploring talks in May, but the club eventually shifted focus elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez was also linked during the final weeks of the window. But, he will be staying at Camp Nou despite strong interest from west London club.

Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen was another last-minute target. Chelsea held talks with his agents on deadline day seeking a center-forward. But, Wolves never had an interest in allowing him to leave permanently. This came after the club originally allowed him to leave for a loan.

All of these examples show the difference between a headline and the truth. That said, not every rumor is meant to come true.

Author’s Opinion:

Chelsea’s summer transfer activity was a mix of ambition and hype. While the Blues landed solid signings, these wild rumours remind fans that transfer windows are often more fiction than fact.
