One Chelsea youngster is wanted on loan by 4 clubs this summer. The player plays as fullback but can also serve as centre back. This increases the possibility of the Blues signing another fullback.
Chelsea have a very good squad depth. But, some positions do not have enough backup players. The Blues are keen to improve all such areas. They are very likely to sign some new defenders as many current ones are likely to depart.
On the other hand, they have a very good academy. The Blues have produced some top talents over the years. They are known for sending their young players on loan for improvement. One such player is now wanted by 4 clubs.
The player in question here is Ishe Samuels-Smith. He is 19 years old and mainly plays as left-back. According to Football London, he is wanted by all Rangers, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Stoke City on loan this summer.
Chelsea are likely to allow Samuels-Smith leave on loan. This will help the player in further improvement by playing regularly for first-team. As of now, he is still not on the level to be first-team regular for Enzo Maresca. But, this suggest a new fullback signing is loading for the Blues.
Chelsea to sign new left-back this summer
Chelsea currently have Marc Cucurella as the main left-back. But, the Spaniard has no backup. Renato Veiga was used as left-back last season. But, the Portugese wants to play as centre-back and hence was away on loan at Juventus. He is likely to be sold permanently.
On the other hand, the Blues also have no intention to keep Ben Chilwell. He too was sent on loan in January at Crystal Palace. Now, the departure of Samuels-Smith means Cucurella has no backup at all. Hence, a new left-back signing will be amongst top priorities this summer.
Chelsea have their eyes on Jorrel Hato of Ajax. He is 19 year old Dutch defender who can play as both left-back and centre-back. Ajax are open to sell him for around €50 million. Hato fits perfectly in Chelsea’s hiring system as he is young, versatile and highly talented.
