Chelsea are showing interest in one young Barcelona star. The player has €100 million release clause in his contract. He has been very good in recent season but the La Liga champions can sell him for right offer.
The star in question here is Marc Casado. He is 21 year old Spanish midfielder who has came up though Barca’s academy. He mainly plays as holding midfielder but can also serve as central midfielder. In the 2024/25 season, he played 36 games and was able to register 1 goal along with 6 assists.
Casado has a very bright future ahead of him. But, he is not a regular starter for Hansi Flick right now. Barcelona rate him very highly but can still opt to sell him. They are in a tough financial situation and hence can sell Casado for right offer. He has €100 million release clause and Barca will want to coup most of it.
According to SPORT, Chelsea are keen to sign Casado this summer. They even made an approach to Barca few months ago. The Blues can approach once again and can get the deal over the line. But, they will also need to convince the player as he may hesitate to join them.
Can Chelsea convince Casado to join them?
Marc Casado will play a major role in deciding his future. He will surely want to play regularly if he gets sold this summer. As of now, this will push Chelsea behind in the race to sign him. The Blues have multiple options at the club right now who can play in that position.
Firstly, they have both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia as natural holding midfielders. Then they have Enzo Fernandez who can play anywhere in the midfielder. In addition, Andrey Santos has now joined the club and is very likely to stay at West London in 2025/26 season. Hence, the Blues will not be able to guarantee Casado regular game-time which may result in failure of the deal.
