Nicolas Jackson on AC Milan Radar as Zirkzee Talks Stall

AC Milan have added Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson to their list of attacking targets as they explore options to strengthen their frontline ahead of the new season.

Milan Explore Premier League Strikers

AC Milan are keeping a very close watch on a number of Premier league strikers, including Nicolas Jackson, who is among the names shortlisted. Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal last summer for £32m, netted 14 Premier League goals in his first season. He appeared raw at goal, but the 23-year-old’s strength, work rate and pressing were impressive.

AC Milan are not alone in monitoring Jackson. The Italian outfit are also monitoring Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta after his strong end to the campaign, netting 16 goals in the Premier League. Milan view both as potential options if they miss out on their primary target, Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna.

Milan’s list is long and includes too players such as Lille star Jonathan David, Amiens striker Serhou Guirassy, and even Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic despite the fact a deal seems improbable given economic limitations. But Jackson is emerging on account of his age profile, sell-on value and experience in the top flight.

Chelsea Open to Movement

Chelsea are not pushing Jackson out of the door at this stage but they could be willing to listen to offers if they sign a new striker this summer. The Blues have targeted Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa and previously pursued RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, but the latter extended his contract and no longer remains an option this summer.

Jackson has a contract until 2031 which would also give Chelsea the upper hand in any talks. AC Milan have yet to make their interest known, though that could also change swiftly with other pieces of the transfer puzzle falling into place.

With Milan looking to retool up top, Jackson looks set to be one of the names to keep an eye on in an increasingly hot summer window.
