Chelsea defender Benoît Badiashile has put an end to rumours around his future, after confirming he will remain with the Blues next season. The 23-year-old Frenchman recently declared his love for the club, city and fans during an interview and his message was clear: he’s ready to battle for his place under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
“I Love the Club” — Badiashile’s Heartfelt Words
Speaking to Foot Mercato, Badiashile made his intentions clear:
“Yes, I will still be at Chelsea next season. The club, the coach and all the staff give me a lot of confidence and believe in me. I love the club, the city and the supporters.”
Benoît Badiashile moved from AS Monaco to Chelsea for around £35m in January 2023. His second season was to be ruined by a hamstring injury suffered in December which was to curtail his season for a number of months and restrict it to just five Premier League appearances in 2024. Nevertheless he played a part in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League campaign and was in the squad that won the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
His game time had been restricted but the club stood by him — and now he is doubling down on their faith with conviction.
Eyes on the Future: A New Chapter Under Maresca
Under Enzo Maresca there has been a tactical shift to a disciplined, possession-heavy game that suits Badiashile’s profile. Moreover, his left-footedness, composure in the meanest of conditions and his razor-sharp passing range are perfect for Chelsea’s backline development.
Competition is of course keen – and Levi Colwill and Axel Disasi are also in the mix – but Badiashile is not seeking a way out. He’s looking for a resurgence. Pre-season has come and gone, and fitness is no longer a concern the French defender is ready for the challenge of marshalling Chelsea’s defence in 2025/26.
He knows the mission. And this time, he’s all in.
