United Eye Proven Premier League Striker Ollie Watkins

Manchester Utd are looking to bring in a new centre-forward this summer. Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins has become a serious name on their radar.

Head coach Ruben Amorim wants to reshape the squad for the new season. So, the club’s transfer team is focused on finding an experienced striker who can deliver straight away. Although, Utd have already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves and are in talks with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. But, Watkins’ name has come up again. This comes following reports that he would be open to making the switch to Old Trafford.

The Englishman is known for his sharp finishing and non-stop work rate. He has been described by many as an “elite” forward. Villa will be missing out on UCL next season, could be open to selling their star attacker. They are likely to sell him only for the right price.

Villa’s Price Tag May Hold the Key

Man Utd’s interest in Watkins has grown in recent times. That is especially after missing out on other striker targets like Liam Delap. Likewise, Viktor Gyokeres is also aside to move to Arsenal.

Players in attack such as Rashford, Sancho, Garnacho are potentially leaving either permanently or on loan. Likewise, Viktor Gyokeres is also aside to move to Arsenal. So, Amorim needs fresh firepower up front. Watkins has been a regular performer in the Premier League.

However, the issues lies in Villa’s asking price. It could be around of £50m, given that Watkins is their main striker. Whether Man Utd can meet that valuation will likely depend on how much money they can raise through player sales. There’s also uncertainty surrounding Rasmus Hojlund’s future. If he leaves, those funds could be redirected toward landing Watkins.

For now, Red Devils remain interested. With the striker open to a move, this could be one to watch as the window progresses.
