Cucurella Doubts Arsenal’s Noni Madueke Move

Marc Cucurella didn’t hold back while reacting to the decision of Madueke to leave during a crucial moment.

Cucurella Criticises Madueke After Early Exit from Chelsea Camp

Marc Cucurella has taken a dig at his former Chelsea teammate, Noni Madueke. This comes after the winger left the Club World Cup camp early to complete a £52m move to Arsenal.

Madueke played in five out of six games on the Blues’ road to the final. He flew back to England before the team lifted the trophy with a 3-0 win over PSG in New Jersey. Cucurella spoke about this during a Q&A at his academy in Spain. He said the move was “strange” and believed Noni missed a golden chance to be part of something special.

The Englishman was less involved towards the end of Enzo Maresca’s debut season. His decision didn’t sit well inside the Chelsea dressing room. The team had just come off a strong European run. They won the Europa Conference League and then added the CWC to their collection.

The Winger Missed An Opportunity

Cucurella has had a trophy-filled year including a top performance in Spain’s Euro 2024 win. He suggested that Madueke may regret the timing of his transfer. The new Arsenal man had been saying about Chelsea being the biggest club in London. So, this will make his transfer to the Gunners seem even less likely for supporters.

While that was all happening, Arsenal fans had already started petitions for the club not to sign him, and said that it was not worth it. Madueke made 92 appearances at the West London side.

Now, he is with a long-term deal at Arsenal until 2030. The winger faces pressure from both sets of fans to prove his worth. For Cucurella and Chelsea camp, the belief remains that Madueke walked away from a winning project too soon.
