Chelsea rule out Isak move as focus shifts to Simons and Hato

Contrary to some recent reports, Chelsea are not pursuing a transfer for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. And according to multiple sources, the Blues are happy with their strikers and have not explored the possibility of rekindling their interest in the Sweden international this summer.

Stories connecting Isak with a move to Chelsea have been swiftly blocked at the source, from Chelsea itself. The club has no plans to take a run at the 24-year-old, who Liverpool has in its crosshairs, not Chelsea.

Striker plans set; no Isak move expected

Chelsea already have young players like Nicolas Jackson in their forward line, as well as new signing Marc Guiu, and the board is happy with the way things are heading. The coaching staff believe in the potential of the squad and want to allow the young strikers to develop under Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea have held no talks with Newcastle and don’t plan to make an offer. Sources close to the club have insisted: Chelsea never intended to sign Isak this window, and are very much concentrating on other targets.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are still monitoring Isak as they weigh up attacking additions. The Reds remain the only club seriously linked with a move for the forward.

Chelsea focus on Simons and Hato

The substance of what goes on at Cobham, though, centers on two of the hottest young prospects: Xavi Simons and Jorrel Hato. Negotiations continue in the background as Chelsea push hard to sign both players – Simons is available from PSG and Jorrel Hato is out of contract with Ajax – in a long-term rebuild.

They are the top two now for the Blues as they look to divert resources into completing deals that would represent statement signings, assuming all comes together before the end of the window. Chelsea think both players can form the core of the club’s future.

So for now? No Isak. Instead, Chelsea push on with Simons and Hato.
