Newcastle Target Former Arsenal Striker

Newcastle are favourites to sign ex-Arsenal player Mika Biereth, who is currently at Monaco. The Magpies are leading the race ahead of several Premier League rivals.

Newcastle Eye Move former Arsenal Forward

Newcastle United are reportedly leading the chase to land Monaco striker Mika Biereth this summer. He was once seen as a flop at Arsenal. However, the Dane has completely turned his career around in Ligue 1.

Biereth has been in fine form since joining Monaco in January. This comes following a strong spell at Austrian side Sturm Graz. The player’s sharp finishing and pace have impressed many, and now English clubs are lining up for his signature.

Newcastle and Aston Villa are said to be the most serious. But, it’s Eddie Howe’s side who look most likely to secure the move. Monaco are open to letting Biereth leave, with a transfer fee of around £40m likely to get the deal done.

Despite not making an impact at the Gunners, Biereth’s rise shows he’s got what it takes at the top level. Newcastle want to strengthen their attack ahead of their return to the UCL. The Magpies believe Biereth makes a lot more sense price-wise.

Howe Building a Solid Squad Ahead of Champions League

Newcastle have been making surprising moves during the summer transfer window. Although, holding on to Alexander Isak is going to be a tough task.

Meanwhile, they have added some speed and skill out wide with the addition of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest. If Biereth joins too, their attacking depth will be one of the best outside the top six PL sides.

Biereth’s potential return to England could come back to haunt Arsenal. The Gunners let him go without giving him a real chance. Now, they might have to watch him lead the line for a direct rival.
