West Ham Chasing Arsenal Forgotten Talent

Gunner Lucas Perez

West Ham United make move to sign Arsenal playmaker. The London club has set its sights on Fabio Vieira as they look to add creativity to their midfield.

Potter eyes creative boost with Vieira

West Ham are plotting a smart move this summer as new boss Graham Potter begins shaping his squad. Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira is on his list, as per journalist Ben Jacobs.

He was on loan at Porto last season. He enjoyed a good season with 11 goal contributions in the league as a playmaker.

Vieira has not started his career at Arsenal the way he would have wanted to. He hasn’t had many minutes on the pitch and has had many more minutes on the bench. Mikel Arteta looks like he would like to move on in other directions moving forward.

While no official bid has been made yet, West Ham’s interest is genuine. With Potter looking for a player who can pull the strings in midfield, Vieira fits the bill perfectly.

Arsenal future unclear as West Ham prepare move

Vieira’s contract with Arsenal goes until 2027, but the Gunners have Martin Odegaard and Ethan Nwaneri at midfield, leaving Vieira’s prospects of regular playing time looking poor. The Hammers may be interested in a deal that begins with a loan that could go permanent. That will be primarily to ease Financial Fair Play issues.

A number of clubs domestically and in Europe will be monitoring Vieira’s situation to see what happens. That said, West Ham will need to move pretty quickly if they want to sign their target. For the time being, for Vieira, signing with the Hammers may be just the refresh he needs. He wants more game time, and Potter’s setup could give him that opportunity.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking at players like Eberechi Eze. Clearly Vieira is not part of their long term plans now. Now its up to both clubs to agree on some deal that works for everyone.
