Stuttgart have opened talks with Arsenal for midfielder Fabio Vieira. He could be on his way out after falling down the pecking order.
Stuttgart Push for Vieira Transfer
Fabio Vieira’s time at Arsenal may be coming to an end this summer. Bundesliga side Stuttgart are now pushing to bring in the midfielder, as per David Ornstein.
The playmaker has struggled for regular minutes under Mikel Arteta. That is especially with new faces like Noni Madueke joining the squad and young talents like Ethan Nwaneri breaking through. After a promising spell at Porto, Vieira moved to the Emirates for a reported £34.5m in 2022. However, he has since made only a handful of starts in the PL. He featured just 16 times last season and even receiving a red card against Burnley.
The Gunners are looking to raise funds for new signings. They are now considering letting Vieira go. Talks are ongoing between both clubs at the moment. Although, there’s no full agreement yet. But, the German side are confident of sealing the deal before the transfer window shuts.
Arteta open to sell as Arsenal rebuild
Vieira has been low on game-time and thus, it appears the future might not lie in London for him.
Stuttgart have qualified for the Europa League via DFB-Pokal. So, it is an attractive destination for the players who wish to get more exposure to European football. Although, Stuttgart only finished ninth in the Bundesliga. However, a cup victory and attacking style would perhaps fit Vieira’s flair.
For the North London side, this is an opportunity to get some cash in ahead of a new season. With weeks remaining in the window, Arteta has a chance to reshape his squad. That said, moving Vieira on may be a smart move.
The club reportedly want a respectable fee given the player’s talent and age. There’s still two years left on his contract, this might be the perfect time to cash in.
