United keeping tabs on free-agent attacker

Manchester United’s summer rebuild has taken another turn this summer window. Now, the club looks to add proven PL star to their front line.

Th club has recently made a big-money move for Benjamin Sesko. Though, the Red Devils have now met with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s camp to discuss a possible move to Old Trafford. The striker is looking for a new home following a nine-year stay at Everton. He is a free agent after not renewing his contract which expired in June.

One of the strongest points to his game is his finishing. He is a noticeable presence in the box. Calvert-Lewin scored 71 goals in 273 games while wearing a Toffees jersey. He was responsible for European nights along with various escape acts from relegation.

The Englishman is understood to be looking for a deal worth £100k-a-week while also assessing other offers from teams in the top-flight. For now, new head coach Ruben Amorim gives the green light remains to be seen. But, Rasmus Hojlund’s future is uncertain as of now. Serie A sides circling to land the Dane as well. So, the door could soon be wide open for Calvert-Lewin to bring his talents to Manchester.

EPL experience could be key

Calvert-Lewin’s game has more to offer than just goals. His aerial threat, ability to hold the ball up, and skill at getting teammates involved are all things that United missed last season. Both Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggled to establish themselves. Being slotted in behind Sesko in the pecking order shouldn’t be a worry for Calvert-Lewin.

Sesko may bring firepower and a higher transfer fee, while Calvert-Lewin has more PL experience, with a variation up front. Man United will work on to match his wage demands and convince him of the project.
