Ligue 1 move collapsed for Chelsea star Axel Disasi
Frenchman Axel Disasi is set to stay at Chelsea this season according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri. The reporter stats a late twist in his transfer situation.
The center back has attracted plenty of eyes during the summer window. He appeared to be on his way back to AS Monaco. He already gave his agreement to the French club as well.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth was a concrete option. Although, the links never got advanced. Disasi was considering leaving Stamford Bridge in order to have a more regular playing time. He wanted to establish himself back in Ligue 1.
Monaco were keen
AS Monaco had laid the groundwork for his return, and talks appeared to be going well. Bournemouth were also in the mix, but the preference of the player was obvious, it was Monaco.
Although, as Tavolieri reports, the deal began to unravel because of Chelsea’s own squad management issues. In particular, the Blues needed to readjust their position after striker Nicolas Jackson‘s loan to Bayern Munich was done.
That outgoing transfer took the Blues to the last available FIFA international loan slot. Hence, the club could not allow for another loan exit overseas to violate regulations.
This move to the Blues pretty much crushed Monaco’s chance of resigning Disasi. Although, there are positive signs within the French outfit that the defender would want to go back there. But, the transfer issues of Chelsea’s timeline were too much.

For the player, the situation has not gone quite as he must’ve wanted. But, he now has the chance to battle for a place and regain his reputation. He clearly isn’t in Enzo Maresca’s plans for this season. But, he would have to probably settle for a place on the bench and bide his time.
