Aston Villa star grabbing attention from Chelsea
After Morgan Rogers’ rise in the PL, Chelsea has identified the Aston Villa player as one of interest. With last season showing the player score 14 goals and 16 assists. It demonstrated to the Blues that he is capable of changing the game at the top level.
Joe Shields, who knows the player from Man City, attempted to bring Rogers to Chelsea during the summer window. But, the move did not go through. Tottenham were also considering Rogers, which is evidence enough as to how hot a profile Rogers has. Chelsea see him as a long term project. He can further strengthen their attacking options and allow them to keep with the top clubs.
What Rogers offers beyond his numbers is the versatility of where he can play the attacking positions. A player of his ability would give creativity and inspiration. The club is trying to compete on several planes if they were to sign him. The transfer would be big hit financially. The biggest hurdle is Aston Villa’s stance. The Midlands club have no reason to let one of their key players go in the middle of the season. Rogers and any move may be on hold until next summer. But, it’s clear Chelsea’s interest is serious.
