Mason Mount comments on post shared by Ben Chilwell as he makes an emotional goodbye to Chelsea.
Defender’s Chelsea journey has come to an end
Ben Chilwell’s official exit from Chelsea ended a five-year wave out in West London. On his return to Leicester in 2020, Ben had some real highs and real lows with the Blues. He is a winner of the 2021 UCL as well.
His speed, end-to-end bursts and work ethic, fans will remember it all. Unfortunately, injury and poor form stopped him from getting his opportunities. He was loaned to Crystal Palace in the latter half of the last season. Hence, it is a safe consideration to say he didn’t have the best farewells. Now, he leaves the Blues smiling, having so many positive memories, along with a strong connection with the fans
His newest chapter will now take him to Strasbourg on a two-year contract. Both parties are getting a fresh start in Ligue 1. He turned down options back to the PL, including a loan move to Everton. The Englishman is now on his way to challenge himself in France’s top league.
Chilwell shared a post on Instagram as a farewell message to the Blues’ faithful. The post was quickly flooded with goodbyes from friends and well wishers.
Mount adds his thoughts on exit of Chilwell
One of the most memorable responses among many messages came from Mason Mount. Man Utd midfielder and former team-mate of Chilwell, spoke glowing about the defending’s ability and contribution to the team. But Chilwell’s influence extended beyond the field, endearing him to those he played with. The chemistry is there to see, and Mount’s comments effectively shows the appreciation among his peers.
Even though Chelsea is losing a reliable defender, Chilwell’s exit opens opportunities for new players. Strasbourg will be looking to get the best out of their new signing. The fans of Chelsea will look back on the best moments of a player who gave everything in blue.
Author’s Opinion:
Though unfortunate, Chilwell’s case has positivity along with it. This is both for him and Chelsea. A legacy of devotion is what he leaves behind, and Mount’s emotional commentary speaks volumes about the respect he earned.
