Chelsea fans hit out at Polish police

Chelsea to go all out to sign Nigerian

Fans of Chelsea are urging UEFA to step in after what they describe as shocking treatment from Polish police. This incident happened during their trip for the Europa Conference League final.

Clash between Chelsea fans & Polish police

The trouble kicked off on May 28 in Wroclaw, where Chelsea were set to face Real Betis in the Conference League final. As per the Football Supporters’ Association, ten Chelsea fans were picked up by local police and held for more than 24 hours. They missed the match entirely.

Reports suggest they were cornered in a bar near the main square. They were treated as if they had caused trouble, despite no link to the unrest elsewhere in the city. No lawyers, no contact with families, and very little explanation. The fans said they were left helpless in a foreign country while their team played one of the biggest games of their season.

Fans push for justice

The arrested maintain they were wrongly identified and then released without charge. However, as they say, the damage had been done. The supporters spent hours locked away in cramped vans without food or water and bounded by cable ties as well. They were surrounded by officers in masks. This has enraged the fans.

The lack of an apology only made things worse. Now, those supporters are writing to UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body, along with Chelsea Football Club, demanding accountability from both Polish authorities and European football’s governing body. For them, this isn’t just about one bad night in Wroclaw. But, it is about setting the record straight and making sure no fans of any club go through the same nightmare.

Author’s Opinion:

UEFA can’t afford to brush this aside. When supporters travel across Europe, they deserve safety and fair treatment. The Chelsea fans’ call for action feels justified, and football’s top bodies must show they’re listening.
