Bayern chief makes Jackson future clear

Bayern chief admits Nicolas Jackson will never trigger permanent transfer clause from Chelsea.

Jackson to return to England after Bayern spell

Nicolas Jackson’s switch to Bayern Munich on deadline day was seen as a fresh start. But, the deal carried a catch that made it almost impossible for him to stay long term. Bayern Chief Uli Hoeness has now come clean, confirming there’s no chance the permanent clause will be activated.

The contract states that Jackson would need to start 40 matches this season for Bayern to buy him outright. That is a figure that’s simply out of reach. With only 34 league games in the Bundesliga and Bayern already two matches in, the numbers doesn’t add up. Add to that the UCL and DFB-Pokal, and it’s still an unrealistic target.

The reality is Vincent Kompany doesn’t rotate his number nine often. That is especially when Harry Kane is fit and firing. Kane has been untouchable since arriving in Munich. There’s no way the England captain is being dropped anytime soon, which leaves Jackson fighting for scraps.

At Chelsea, he was often criticised for inconsistency. His record of 30 goals in 81 games is miles off Kane’s output. Those stats only makes his Bayern stay look even shorter.

Chelsea likely to get him back

Chelsea almost blocked the loan in the first place after Liam Delap’s injury created a striker shortage. They eventually recalled Marc Guiu instead and let Jackson leave.

But, it’s starting to feel like a temporary fix. Bayern paid a hefty loan fee of around €13.5m. But, Hoeness has already ruled out turning that into a permanent deal.

Author’s Opinion:

Jackson’s Bayern move looks more like a short-term stint. Unless he shocks everyone with a scoring streak, Chelsea should prepare to welcome him back. They have to rethink his role in the team as well.
