Chelsea watching Club Brugge gem

Chelsea are closely following Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez, with a possible move in 2026 already on their radar.

Club Brugge talent attracting attention from Chelsea

Joel Ordonez has been on the rise at Club Brugge. Now, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are all keen on him.

The center-back had scouts on him when Ecuador faced Argentina. Arsenal have been monitoring him too. Ordonez is worth monitoring, and he might not be just another prospect. He is receiving good reports in terms of finding space and composure under pressure.

For Chelsea, following him fits their long-term plans. The club has been highly proactive in planning for the future. They are purposely targeting young players to develop them into stars. Ordonez would see the Premier League as the perfect step up. The Blues’ pull remains strong for South Americans aiming for the top.

Villa join the chase

While Chelsea keep watch, Aston Villa are quietly pushing their own project. Unai Emery has already brought Villa back into Europe. A defender such as Ordonez would provide a fresh boost to their long-term plans.

The Midlands club want players who can compete in Europe consistently and play into their system. But, they are looking for players who are young and can grow with the club as well. Ordonez is young, but already proved to be right for Europe and is certainly a good fit.

The transfer race is still wide open, and the player won’t be short of options when the time comes. Whether it’s London or Birmingham, the youngster looks set to make his mark on English football sooner rather than later.

Author’s Opinion:

Ordonez has all the qualities to shine in the Premier League. If Chelsea move first, they could secure a defensive leader for years to come. But, Villa’s hunger under Emery shouldn’t be underestimated.
