Disasi frustrated after failed Monaco deal

Axel Disasi revealed he pushed hard for a Monaco return but Chelsea blocked his summer exit.

Disasi unhappy after Monaco dream falls apart

Axel Disasi revealed to the media that he tried to make a move back to Monaco this summer. The French defender wanted a means to go back to his former club. There, he had regular game time and respect in the dressing room.

Speaking to Le Media Carre, he confessed that he “pushed until the last minute” for Chelsea to sanction the switch. Although, the west London side couldn’t strike a deal. The Blues were already maxed out on their loan quota. So, that left the player stuck at Stamford Bridge despite his willingness to leave. For a player at his age, the failed deal is a real setback.

A loan return to Ligue 1 would have given him a chance to restart his career. Instead, Disasi faces another spell fighting for minutes in a squad where he has struggled to convince. His previous loan at Aston Villa was poor, with little game time to show for it. Right now, he looks more like a squad option than a serious contender for the starting XI. For someone who was once highly rated in France, that’s a tough pill to swallow.

What next for the French defender?

Disasi’s situation is tricky. Sitting on the Chelsea bench until January will do little for his confidence or his international chances. The defender knows regular football is the only way to prove his worth again. Yet, the Blues appear in no hurry to cut ties.

While a move for a permanent deal may have been the best long-term option. But, no opportunities that suit all parties have come up yet. The coming months could define whether Disasi still has a future in English football or not.

Author’s Opinion:

Disasi’s comments shows the gap between player ambitions and Chelsea’s plans. Unless he finds regular minutes soon, a winter exit looks almost very likely.
