Arsenal eye Ajax teen star

Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea are all keeping tabs on Ajax wonderkid Jorthy Mokio. He is 17-year-old and already tipped to be one of the brightest prospects in Europe.

Ajax youngster on PL radar including Arsenal

Jorthy Mokio is fast becoming a name to watch. The Ajax academy product can play in centre-back as well as in the midfield. He has scouts from all sorts of top clubs in England tracking him.

At just 17, the Belgian is said to be mature and composed on the ball. The Dutch side produces world class players, so Mokio is the latest one to come through their system. Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have all interest in him, as per TEAMtalk.

Meanwhile, Manchester City and Tottenham are circling as well. For a player still making his way in the Eredivisie, that level of attention tells you everything about his talent.

Gunners’ have an advantage

For Arsenal, Mokio could be a clever long-term investment. The Gunners have a history of bringing in talents from Amsterdam. Jurrien Timber being the most recent example. The link between the two clubs remains strong.

While Chelsea continues to chase Europe’s best teenagers. But, Arsenal can offer something different. They can give him stability, a clear pathway into the first team. The player will have a chance to develop under Mikel Arteta’s guidance as well.

Liverpool, too, would be an appealing option given Arne Slot’s Dutch ties and the lure of competing for silverware. Man United could give more minutes and less competition for starting roles. Although, it might be a risk for a teenager who is still learning.

Whether Ajax can hold onto Mokio much longer feels doubtful. When PL scouts line up for a teenager, it usually ends with a big-money move sooner rather than later.

Author’s Opinion:

If Arsenal play their cards right, they should be in pole position. Mokio’s potential and Ajax schooling fit perfectly with Arteta’s long-term project. So, this might be one race where the Gunners can outthink Chelsea and United.
