Harry Kane praised Chelsea but backs Bayern Munich’s quality, which made the difference in their UCL clash.
Kane praises Chelsea but backs Bayern’s strength
Harry Kane once again proved why Bayern Munich made him their main man. He netted twice in the 3-1 win over Chelsea. The England skipper admitted it was a one of the toughest game so far. That was a sign of just how much fight the Londoners brought to the pitch.
Kane didn’t shy away from giving Chelsea their flowers. He said they pushed Bayern harder than most Bundesliga sides manage. But in the same breath, he underlined his clubs’ experience and composure as the key edge on the night.
The difference for Kane was simply that Bayern held the nerve at crucial points. They punished Chelsea when it could not afford to concede.
Chelsea’s young side showed some good moments pushing high and causing problems. But, Kane said you need experience at this level of the UCL. He admitted youth alone wasn’t the sole reason for Chelsea’s defeat. But, he suggested it may have tilted the balance Bayern’s way.
Blues’ promise despite the defeat
Even with the setback, Chelsea won’t feel completely deflated. Enzo Maresca has built a group of young talents that already have silverware to their name. That includes the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup. This indicates that they are learning how to win, even if the UCL presents a different problem.
Bayern were just clinical, with Kane leading their attack. Meanwhile, Chelsea showed they could potentially make an impression further into the tournament.
Author’s Opinion:
Chelsea are raw, but they’re not far off. Bayern Munich’s experience was too strong this time. But, if Enzo Maresca’s side keep learning, they’ll be at the top in Europe sooner than many expect.
