Nwaneri could play as No.10 for Arsenal against Man City

Arsenal could use Ethan Nwaneri as a No.10 against Man City on the weekend.

Nwaneri as a No.10 against Man City for Arsenal

Arsenal step into Sunday’s showdown with Man City riding high after a strong start to the season. Three league wins out of four, only one goal conceded, plus a UCL victory in Bilbao show that momentum is firmly with them.

But, there’s a problem. Martin Odegaard, the natural heartbeat of the team, remains doubtful with a shoulder issue. The Gunners looked lifeless in attack without him against Liverpool, and Arteta’s midfield plan wasn’t effective. The head coach cannot repeat that mistake against City.

Meanwhile, Ethan Nwaneri looks ready for a challenge. He can do quick-footed dribbles, fearless ball-carrying, and help in tight spaces.

The risk worth taking

There’s talk about Eberechi Eze being a stylish fit in that central role. But, the truth is Arsenal need more than style against City. They need someone who can tilt the game in their favor. Nwaneri has been called “unbelievable” by Arteta for a reason. He’s a goal threat, he sees the pass early, and he thrives under pressure.

This is the kind of test that shapes young stars. If he isn’t trusted now, questions will arise over his long-term development. He didn’t sign a new deal to sit on the bench in big games. With Gabriel Martinelli sharp on the wing and Rice anchoring the midfield, Nwaneri could be the missing piece.

If the North London side want three points at the Etihad, Arteta needs to back his youngster.

Author’s Opinion:

If Odegaard can’t start, Nwaneri has to. It’s a fearless decision, but fearless often leads to success against Guardiola’s Man City. Have confidence in him now, who knows, Arsenal might very well end up with the result they need.
