Lewis-Skelly steals the show against Port Vale

Myles Lewis-Skelly put in a standout display in the League Cup win over Port Vale.

Eze and Trossard deliver but fall short of top billing

Arsenal’s away trip to Port Vale was meant to be easy business. But, the North London side had to do it the hard way. New signing from Crystal Palace, Eberechi Eze scored his first goal for the club with a clean finish inside eight minutes. He nearly doubled his tally before the break.

On the other hand, Leandro Trossard was introduced late on in the game. He wasted little to no time and fired home a good strike in the last minutes to seal the win for the Gunners. Both attackers showed flashes of class during the League Cup fixture. But, their performance wasn’t the main highlight of the night.

Lewis-Skelly shines brightest against Port Vale

Myles Lewis-Skelly stole the show in the match. The Arsenal academy product had his first start of the new season and shocked everyone with a great performance. He played a crucial role for Eze’s first goal for his new club. The youngster also showed grit in defence with great positioning and timing. Over 94 minutes, he barely made any error.

The player won every duel, completed nearly all his passes, and kept the possession. Last night saw Arsenal lacked their usual creativity. But, Lewis-Skelly’s game stood out. He showed that he is ready to start for the club. Last season, fans saw what he can bring in to the game against the top sides in the PL and UCL. But, due to new arrivals at the club, he has been getting limited game time.

Author’s Opinion:

Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard showed their game, but Myles Lewis-Skelly set the tone with his work rate. Nights like this reminds the football world why Arsenal trusts their academy products in the long run.
