The football world is mourning the loss of Chichester City star Billy Vigar. The young striker came through Arsenal’s academy. Vigar, only 21 years old, suffered a lethal head injury while playing in a match in the Isthmian League Premier Division against Wingate and Finchley.
As per reports, an injury was sustained from a collision with a concrete wall. Although, there’s no confirmation from the club yet. Arsenal have issued a statement saying the club was deeply saddened to hear of Vigar’s death. They were remembering him as a player who represented the values of their academy with pride.
Since leaving Arsenal in 2024, Vigar had experienced several clubs. Before signing for Chichester, he had previous playing experience with Derby County. He was on-loan with Eastbourne Borough and Hastings United as well. Eastbourne fans would have begun to take notice of Vigar once again with 32 appearances and brief flashes of the talent.
Chichester confirmed their next match with Lewes was postponed. This comes in recognition of the event for players and supporters alike to have time to mourn.
