Barcelona are keeping eyes on young forward, as the club is looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
A legend nearing his final chapters
Robert Lewandowski has been been in solid form since joining Barcelona. Now that he is 37, there are no signs that any passion Robert still has for football has faded with time. Although, time does not wait for anyone. The club and the fans are aware of the fact that they need a new striker. Lewandowski himself certainly knows that he is not going to get younger and stronger. He knows his golden days are coming to an end. That said, Barca cannot wait for long and make panic buys, that doesn’t make sense.
The club has begun searching for their next possible options to fit the Barca style. They want someone with sharp movement, technical control, and a natural eye for goal. The idea being to try to acquire a younger striker who will take over the role, much like the club did with Suarez’s replacements. Among all the names floating around, one player has caught their attention, Samu Aghehowa, the 21-year-old sensation currently lighting up the Portuguese league.

Samu Aghehowa as Lewandowski replacement
Aghehowa has quickly become one of FC Porto’s brightest stars. Just 21 and already making headlines, he’s got five goals in seven league appearances this season. He is physically strong, is explosive, and plays with a level of confidence that is uncommon for a player his age. More significantly, he is Spanish, which will certainly add to the allure for Barcelona as they like to either sign homegrown players or players that are adjusted to the La Liga tempo.
According to reports from Spain, Barca are lining up a bid around €60m to test Porto’s resolve. This is a daring step because the striker’s release clause is €100m. The team from Catalonia thinks that Porto could be persuaded if the price is right especially since the player is increasingly wanting to play in a larger league. But there’s competition brewing. Top European clubs are monitoring Aghehowa closely, and that could push the price even higher. Barca must strike fast if they truly want him.
The new era for Barca’s attack
Finding a replacement for a player of Lewandowski’s caliber does not mean to search for a clone. But, it is to look for a center forward with completely different but not less interesting qualities. The Catalans are between their identity new and old, putting together the young and the old, and Aghehowa is exactly the right man for the job. He is not only a goal scorer but also a good passer, a hard and smart presser, and one who always creates chances by himself. Such traits are the ones that show modern football and hence are required from a striker.
If Barca convince him to join, it will be a huge win for the club. With stars like Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Gavi already forming the core of the next generation, adding Aghehowa could complete the puzzle. But they’ll need to handle the financial side smartly. Paying €100m isn’t realistic, but if they can convince Porto with the right structure, this could be one of the smartest moves of the upcoming transfer window.
Author’s Opinion:
Barca’s chase for Samu Aghehowa feels similar to their past moves. They see a talent early, they bring him in, and let it grow at the club. Lewandowski won’t be growing any younger for sure. But, if they get this one right, the future of their attack could be secure for the next couple of years.
