Young Chelsea goalkeeper had a tough night against PSG

Chelsea to go all out to sign Nigerian

Chelsea goalkeeper had a tough game that ended up hurting his team’s chances in a dramatic Ligue 1 clash against PSG.

A rough night for Chelsea goalkeeper in Ligue 1

Mike Penders, the goalkeeper of Chelsea who is highly praised, had a terrible meeting against PSG during his time at loan with Strasbourg. The Belgian youngster is frequently thought of as one of the club’s most hopeful stars of the future. He showed his potential in occasional instances but then again he was poor in his approach to the game.

Strasbourg fought hard to secure a draw but it might have been more if it weren’t for the keeper’s few expensive moments. His pressure-induced decision making was being criticized. That is especially when he let a couple of saves go right back into the tricky areas. The frustration level increased when he gave away a silly penalty.

Lessons from the loan spell

The Ligue 1 season for Penders was planned to be a testing ground. It is a place where he could not only learn but also grow without the pressure of the PL. And that is really the situation. The mistakes, while they hurt the Strasbourg fans, are actually a part of his growth.

Chelsea’s coaches are of the opinion that these situations will be a part of his experience. This will eventually make him tougher before his return to the Blues. It is still quite understandable that the fans of Strasbourg might feel that they are the losers. They have to bear the discomfort of the healing while Chelsea is the receiver of the finished product. The 3-3 tie will act as a warning that at this level, only talent is not enough.

Author’s Opinion:

Penders has not yet become completely matured but these instances are what shows a real goalkeeper. He needs to pick up the positives from his mistakes and be humble. Then Chelsea could be having a player of world-class caliber in the making.
