Chelsea nearing agreement on a sponsorship deal valued at around £45m.
Chelsea working on sponsorship deal
After many months of doubts, Chelsea’s commercial team appears close to sealing a sponsorship deal worth roughly £45m. Although, as per reports, the amount falls short of their initial targets. But, it marks a positive step after plenty of failed attempts to get a long‑term partner.
Following the change in the ownership of the club, the hunt for a front-of-shirt sponsor has become a tough task for the West London club. It has been said that talks have made good progress and an update will be out very soon.
Although, the final numbers are not as exciting as the fans expected. The fans were dreaming of a deal something around £60m. But, this deal could secure the base for Chelsea’s commercial activities during the coming seasons.
Blues falling behind rivals
This deal shows how the West London side’s position in the market has declined compared to other top clubs. The figure is simply slightly higher than the yearly contract that was signed with Yokohama Tyres back in 2015 that was worth £40m. This comes at a time when the sponsorship prices in world football have gone up.
Meanwhile, teams across England and Europe continue to get big sponsors. That shows stronger brand appeal and better planning. Chelsea’s management faces pressing doubts about strategy and timing. Did delaying the process for over a year truly had any advantage remains to be the main question.
Author’s Opinion:
A confirmed £45m deal might not match Chelsea’s image for sure at the moment. But, it will likely restore a much‑needed stability at the West London club. Locking in this partnership could finally let Enzo Maresca and his team to focus on rebuilding credibility both on and off the pitch.
