Chelsea star Raheem Sterling shaken after terrifying home incident

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling and his family were fortunate to have no physical injuries when the four masked men tried to forcibly enter their home last Saturday. The scary event is a second burglary that Sterling has suffered and it has once again raised the issue of security of players. Law enforcement agents are seeking an answer to the crime and Chelsea have been very supportive of the player.

Details of the Incident

The information obtained by the authorities discloses that burglars lobbed at Sterling’s house while he and his children were there. A representative spoke out that all were okay but it was the “ultimate violation of privacy and safety.” The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ relatives have requested people to allow them some time after which they will be ready to interact again as they recover from the tragic incident.

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Thames Valley Police said that any information related to the burglary would be very helpful if someone contacts them. Also, they assured that the police are carrying out an extremely thorough investigation of the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌matter.

Sterling’s Career Context

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ 30-year-old forward, who was arguably one of the most gifted Premier League players over the past ten years, switched clubs from Manchester City to Chelsea in 2022.‍‌ Unfortunately, he has not been able to revive his brilliant performance of the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌past. In fact, he went back home after the burglaries happen at his house while he was at the World Cup in Qatar.

Irrespective of the fact that he is on a £300,000-a-week contract, Sterling has not made a single appearance in the first team of Chelsea this season and is rumored to be out of the club’s future plans.

Author’s Opinion

Sterling’s ordeal is a telling example of the escalated security issues especially in the case of footballers. On the other hand, though personal safety comes before sports-related matters, clubs need to increase the safety of players and their families without ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌delay.
