Arsenal defender has been ruled out temporarily with a hip injury.
Latest on hip injury to Arsenal defender
Arsenal‘s injury list grows ever longer. Now, defender Riccardo Calafiori has had a hip injury while on national duty. The player won’t be playing in the training of the Italian squad in Florence. As per reports, Calafiori is ruled out of the World Cup qualifying game versus Moldova.
For the North London side, it could not have been worse timing. The club is already having fitness isssues in several positions. The young defender was beginning to find his footing with the Gunners. He was providing the left side with balance and poise. Now, his absence may cause a disturbance to Arteta’s defensive line.
Eyes on quick recovery
Calafiori’s aims is to return to the best shape as early as possible. Then only he could play in the next qualifier against Norway that Italy would play in Milan. The Italian medical staff are being careful, focusing on the recovery phase to prevent the injury from worsening.
This little trouble for Arsenal could turn out to be a bigger issue because of the busy calendar ahead. The Gunners will soon be back in PL games, and Arteta will be praying for his £35m bargain to get better swiftly. If not, the head coach will have to make changes in the defense.
Meanwhile, Calafiori has been a key player for the Gunners. He has not only stopped the rival team’s attacks but also the team’s offensive way of playing. The team could make changes in the plans if he is not present for any time.
Author’s opinion:
There are no two ways about it, injuries are part and parcel of football. But, the timing is very key. Calafiori’s absence, even for a few days, could create a gap in the defense of Arsensal. Although, if this minor absence is managed well, it could be a time for him to rise up for the huge games to come.
