Agent regrets sending his client back to Chelsea

An agent has admitted he regrets advising his client to return to Chelsea. That is even though it seemed like the right move at the time.

The dream return that turned sour

Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea after a disappointing exit. He could reveal his worth to the whole world. Nevertheless, it rather became one of the most chaotic and stormy periods in the history of Chelsea.

From the moment of his arrival, Lukaku did not appear happy. His form dropped off, his confidence left him, and he completely disconnected from the head coach, Thomas Tuchel. And, of course, there was the infamous interview he conducted mid-season where he was openly critical of the situation.

It wasn’t just a question of bad form, this was a full-on collapse. This period was the one that raised serious doubts about his motives and mentality among fans.

Agent admits his mistake years after Chelsea move

Federico Pastorello, who was the agent for the move, has come out admitting that he wishes he had not insisted on Lukaku’s return. In the beginning, the transfer seemed to be great, an excellent scorer back to a team that needed goals so much. Although, just after two months, the realization came that the transfer was a mistake from the outset.

The player and the team did not get along. There was high pressure, and the expectations for him were too high as well. Lukaku’s second chance at the Blues turned out to be a disappointment filled with loans and a lot of blaming.

Author’s Opinion:

Romelu Lukaku’s return saw the moment emotion took over logic. His agent’s regret is understandable, but Chelsea should’ve seen the warning signs too. Football moves fast, the player’s chapter is closed, and nobody at the Bridge is losing sleep over it anymore.
