Al-Nassr are said to be prepared to offer a staggering €70 million (£60.7m) bid to lure Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella in the summer —and have Cristiano Ronaldo lobbying hard for a switch. The Saudi powerhouse club have wasted no time in identifying the 27-year-old as their No 1 target as they prepare to offer a megabucks deal and a leading role in their Riyadh dream. But Chelsea? Yeah, they’re not even blinking.
Al-Nassr’s bold bid has Ronaldo fingerprints all over it
As per several reports, Ronaldo is heading Al-Nassr’s transfer plan this summer and he has identified Cucurella as someone to go after. The Spanish defender has three years remaining on his Chelsea deal, but turned in several high-octane performances late in the campaign under Mauricio Pochettino. Al-Nassr now see him as the perfect full-back to boost their defence — especially after wrapping up a deal to sign Joao Felix and taking to the table to sign Antony.
To also sweeten the deal, Al-Nassr are preparing a massive wage package inundated with bonuses and long-term bonuses. Their strategy is straightforward: “Drop bag, win race.” But, as yet, for the tempting pitch, Cucurella has given no indication. The player remains fully focused on Chelsea’s pre-season under new manager Enzo Maresca, according to a source close to him.
Chelsea remain firm—Cucurella not for sale
Chelsea’s stance? Firm. Unyielding. Not even slightly interested. According to Bobby Vincent, The Blues have described Cucurella as “untouchable.” Maresca sees the Spaniard as key to his style, as he likes his full-backs to invert and get forward out wide especially in transition. Negotiations with Ajax for Jorrel Hato are underway, but Cucurella is the main man for Chelsea at the moment.
The Saudi millions might be knocking, but Chelsea’s door is bolted. Marc Cucurella looks set to stay blue.
