Liverpool manager Arne Slot has taken a closer look at Chelsea and their Premier League title credentials, saying they have enough players of quality and depth in the camp with top management. Looking back at what was a terrific season, Slot applauded Chelsea for their consistency and their capacity to capture silverware.
And he said the recent arrivals at the club made them serious contenders for the 2025/26 season. A new day dawns for Chelsea FC, a night full of expectation as the talent blends itself in with experience making some big name signings into every department as they prepare themselves for the campaign
Chelsea Strengths Under the Microscope
Arne Slot noted Chelsea were already in the title conversation last season, maintaining a presence from the opening games through December. “I expected them to win last season already. They have a lot of quality, and they were there at the start of the season. Chelsea were in the title race after just ten games. They were still there [in December],” he said.
As the Dutch manager focused not only on star quality but squad depth and tactical versatility. He also lauded Chelsea’s boss, saying “very good” manager and could take the team to win across multiple competitions. The silverware Chelsea took home from last season, Slot noted, is evidence that they are not only good but also ambitious and always striving for excellence in every aspect.
Strengthening for a Title Push
While Chelsea faced periods of inconsistency that stalled their title bid last season, Slot believes their current reinforcements position them to compete at the very top. “It was good for us that they also had a period last season where they struggled, and that’s why they couldn’t compete till the end for the league title. But now they’re strengthening the team again, so a team that’s, in my opinion, one of the ones that are going to challenge for a league title,” he explained.
Slot wisely noted how this fits into Chelsea’s broader approach to mix proven champions with blossoming new signings to get back on top of English football. In the past year or so, they have also added tactical depth and some marquee signings in their ranks which would prepare them to give their all against each and every competitor this season.
