Arsenal and Liverpool going for Feyenoord star Geertruida

Liverpool

Arsenal are very much interested in Feyenoord’s star defender Lutsharel Geertruida. However, they have competition as their league rival, Liverpool are also in the race for signing him.

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have a keen eye on the young Dutchman. The 23 year old defender is Feyenoord’s academy graduate who played his debut in 2017. Since then, his name has always been in the starting 11 for every match of Feyenoord.

In the previous season, he had a remarkable form under ex-Feyenoord manager Arne Slot. In 34 games in the Eredivisie, he has provided 13 goal contributions. By number and on paper, he can be termed as an exciting youngster coming up.

Transfer situation regarding Geertruida

Geertruida has attracted big clubs in this transfer market. He has been in an excellent form and was even called up to play for the Netherlands national team for this year’s Euro. As of now, Arsenal are leading the race. The North London side are very serious with the signing of Geertruida. However, they have to face serious competition as their rivals Liverpool are in the competition of signing the 23 year old. Paris Saint Germain also have a keen eye on Geertruida. As per many reports, Geertruida has a price tag of £32m approximately. This could motivate many clubs to sign the defender.

Geertruida was in a terrific form under Arne Slot at Feyenoord. Now Slot has been signed by Liverpool and starting next season, he would be Liverpool’s manager. The Dutch manager wants his Feyenoord defender in his new team. He believes that the young defender could play as a great right back and help Trent Alexander Arnold move upfront as a midfielder.

What could be a right decision for Geertruida

Both the clubs could be a good option for the Dutch defender. Joining an in-form Arsenal side who are getting closer and closer to the Premier League could be a safe option. He would provide defensive solidity to the defence line. It could be a great addition to the North London team.

Joining Liverpool, on the other hand, could also be another good decision for him. He has played under the newly appointed manager Arne Slot before. The Dutchman knows how Slot wants his team to play. He is very much familiar with his tactics. Joining Liverpool could also mean that he might get a guaranteed start at every game for the Reds.

For now, he is focused on his national duties. Geertruida and his agent will discuss about his transfer after his international campaign.
